Too long the election process in Seagate has been made deliberately convoluted to keep certain people as board directors year after year, while keeping others out. It’s time for this to change. We the Seagate homeowners demand:

TERM LIMITS

● Board members are limited to a maximum of 2 consecutive 2 year terms.
● One year gap required before becoming eligible for re-election after serving 2 consecutive terms.
 

DEMOCRATIC AND OPEN ELECTIONS

● Prospective applicants for the Board of Directors must submit their application to the Sea Gate Office along with 3 signature recommendations from homeowners in good standing.
● Registered candidates' names will be posted in the Sea Gate Office and mailed to all homeowners no later than 10 days after the Annual Meeting.
● Members of the Sea Gate Association will choose Board members based on popular vote in an OPEN ELECTION. 
● Election to be held 4 weeks after the Annual Meeting, in person or by proxy. 
★ At the Annual Meeting qualified candidates for the Board of Directors will have     an opportunity to introduce themselves. 
 

LESS BUREAUCRACY, MORE EFFICIENCY

● Number of Board of Directors reduced to 9 rather than 15.
 

FOR THE CURRENT ELECTION YEAR:

● If this proposal is adopted on September 12, 2022, all candidates for the Board can submit their application to the Sea Gate Office. Elections will be held on October 10, 2022.
● Current members of the Board who have served less than 4 years will qualify as eligible candidates for the October 10, 2022 election. 
★ For election year 2022, the community may re-elect up to 3 existing board members who wish to retain their position although they exceed their term limit.
