Joel Currie started this petition to Faculty of the School of Engineering in the University of Aberdeen

Amidst the global pandemic that is COVID19, students have lost valuable time and resources for their thesis.  Some are key-workers now having to work the majority of the day (keeping the country running) taking essential time from their thesis.

Some students have had to deal with moving back to their home, often this can be 24 hour flights away, and loose precious time in this manner.

Others have Supervisors that are unwilling to respond to an email to help, just because in-face teaching has come to a halt in Aberdeen, does not mean that faculty should stop doing their jobs.

Some of us even know, or are sufferers of COVID19, it is unfair for prior expectations to be held during this pandemic.

Nearly all other degree disciplines have been given a thesis extension to (in some extent) mitigate these distressing circumstances by giving a thesis deadline extension to make up for the time lost.  Instead the School of Engineering have offered no support, and instead have said that we are 90% through the completion of the thesis timeline so we should not need an extension, and that an extension would distract from our exam deadlines.  Surely their reasoning is counter-intuitive and we as adults are capable of managing our own time.

A thesis deadline extension of at least one week would be satisfactory during this time of crisis.
