I ran a theatre building which helped build and renovate and the board decided to pass the lease to a group od business people who had no experience in theatre or running a theatre building and in one year the building was a furniture shop.
Business orienntated people are good as advisors but they have no knowledge of theatre and no business making the final decision on anything. I am now on the board of another theatre company and we support the decisions of the Artistic Director.

I am a theatre lover and have often been to the Factory Theatre because of brilliant productions I have seen there. I am saddened by people acting like bullies, and unfortunately that is how the board has acted and so will be boycotting the theatre and telling my friends to do the same.

I just saw Every Letter Counts. What happened. I left Toronto for a year and come back to that? This seems like a case of a board that thought it was smarter than it was and their mistake is bringing down a landmark.

People with heart & passion are important to me. Hence Ken Gass. But really?! why did realestate have to kill art?

Let's do what it is important for the art. Just that. Thanks.

When someone like Ken Gass has devoted his life, money, experience, sweat and tears to keeping this theatre going, he deserves every decent consideration and loyalty. He does not deserve to be thrown aside like an old rag. Shame on all who made this decision.

The theatre and the historic building are critical elements in my neighbourhood.

This is astonishingly close to my own experience when asked to resign from the Atlantic Theatre Festival in 1998. An incompetent and ignorant board, one or two determined opponents, a refusal to recognise that it is the artistic vision that leads fundraising etc. etc. I congratulate you Ken on a feisty response, and wish you all the best in seeking to reverse these decisions.

As a resident of a city that has let developers run roughshod over all aspects of city planning, I am very upset that that a cabal of self-serving people could get away with this travesty.
