The Philippines is well-known country no doubt about that, but then do you stop and think, what do other people think of this country? Out of all the possible answers it comes down to the negative responses, at least majority of 'em. Since generalizing and stereotyping has become that of a common habit for most common people then we can say it is almost impossible to eradicate the common misconceptions which control what people think about this particular country.
Like many places other than the Philippines, they also have their own reputation which dully describes what should be their ideals and ideas of a community, regardless of how positive that sounds, we commonly see a particular setting by its negative sides, never mind how beautiful their environment is as long as it has a story which can negatively affect its general image then all efforts of upholding a positive one is utterly useless. As true as it sounds, this kind of thinking should not be tolerated, although it speaks of facts about the human behavior and how we, humans, see things because of our normal reflexes or 'thinking' about discovering unfamiliar places, what's unacceptable about this that people don't do anything about it and that's the thing about most of us filipinos, we easily convince ourselves that this country is just a place when in fact it's more than that and we, as the citizens should stop stereotyping our own because you yourself will eventually become a victim of your own misconceptions because this is a country you're living in and you have a chance to affect its image. You are needed by your own country. Start doing something now.
