Revival Disability Magazine started this petition to Facebook team and

We're all very excited about Facebook Avatars : a cute little animated version of all of us : the gift of artificial intelligence and technology. But for those of us who use assistive devices, why don't we have an option of adding that to our avatars? Personally speaking, I feel very lost without my crutch  it is an integral part of my identity and has been there for me throughout. This is not the first time a major media platform has left out the idea of disabled people completely. Ableism is so subtle and between-the-lines that it's difficult to notice at first. It's supposedly harmless. Honestly, I didn't question it until another friend raised the question. Thankyou Kausthub! This is how systemic oppression works - it is embedded so deeply in our minds that we don't even notice it even when it's right in front of us. If you were to ask : why am I making a petition for such a minor issue : except it isin't minor because Facebook is the biggest social networking site there is and inclusivity starts right at the grassroot level, by changing perceptions and attitudes towards disability : by including us in your worldview, in your space, in your future.
