Modify your reporting system to allow for the reporting of child porn!

Every day, thousands of children are exploited, abused and raped in pornographic videos created by pedophiles. Many of these videos end up on Facebook where they are shared and "liked" by thousands, further exploiting the children in them. Despite hundreds of reports, the images and videos remain on Facebook for hours and in some cases, days. Reports regarding this material are routinely (and automatically, in many cases) dismissed.

Facebook has no system for reporting these incidents outside of "pornography," which it does not moderate properly, if at all. There are hundreds of "spot your ex?" and "nudes exposed" pages which contain images of under-aged children, and they are frequently allowed to remain on Facebook despite their content. Because producing, possessing, and sharing child porn are felonies, and because this content puts children at risk, it stands to reason that Facebook would have an option for reporting it since day one.

It does not. Even though they are aware of the existence of and level of access to child pornography on their site, Facebook does not provide users with a way to report images and videos containing this exploitation and abuse. There is no way to specify the violation to Facebook, and there is no way to report it to the authorities. Because you must report it as "pornography", little to nothing is ever done about it. Reports from users are dismissed within minutes or even seconds (links containing proof of child porn and failure to moderate the site will be posted below). We are forced to seek the help of third party websites who may or may not be able to provide assistance. Breastfeeding photos are removed within hours... Think about that. Facebook is more concerned with, and spends more effort on, removing consensual breastfeeding photos than they are with child porn. Did I mention that child porn is a felony?

It is time for Facebook to modify their reporting system to make it easier for users to report crimes like child porn. Children are being raped and exploited in pornographic videos, and Facebook is explicitly condoning these behaviors when they refuse to remove such content from their site. Why aren't they fighting for our children's safety and rights? We are going to tell Facebook enough is enough, and to start doing their part in protecting our most vulnerable citizens.

How many more children will be violated on their website before they do?
