Ollie Tomb started this petition to Facebook and
(In sum what i want is facebook to change their policies to a general consensus of family members votes to or not to permanently delete an individuals Facebook account who does not have a legacy contact and has not specified what to do with their account in the event of their death. As opposed to current policies allowing any one individual freedom to delete a loved ones account for malicious reasons.) My Brother (Derek Lynde) of 33 years Committed suicide on 9/24/15 ending a 3 year marriage with his wife. when I got the news, I called his wife who seemed to be completely emotionless about what had happened. My brothers wife and her friends who only knew him for a few years hijacked his Facebook account and started Blocking beloved family members of 33 years like it was a game. Then after they deactivated his account, I had it memorialized and informed Facebook of the nature of what had happened. Then my brothers family (Grandma, Mother, Father, Stepmom, Sisters, brothers, aunts and uncles) were happy to see his page back. His page was helping with the grieving process for us. Then his wife of 3 years, her friends and family started trolling his page and commenting with emotionless words like "I don't think its necessary to need a Facebook page to grieve.". They were literally saying cold words to provoke an emotional response from my family members, though my family kept their cool because I had asked them too. I knew they were looking for a reason to shut down his page and hurt us. A few weeks later my brothers Facebook page was gone and when I asked Facebook what had happened they informed me that his page was permanently deleted due to a "loved one" who asked them to do so. Every single person in My Brothers life for 33 years did not ask Facebook to do this. I was under the impression that since I had it memorialized, his 3 year wife and her emotionless family could not do anything to his Facebook since Facebook had control of his account at this point. Face book replied with a prompted response that basically did not answer my questions. FACEBOOK SHOULD NOT EVER "PERMANENTLY" DELETE THE FACEBOOK PAGE OF A PERSON WHO HAS PASSED AWAY. I can see deactivating it and saving it in some disk somewhere... But ALL the private conversations i had with my brother years before he met his heartless wife are gone... all his post through out the years and pictures are gone... I WANT FACEBOOK TO CHANGE THEIR POLICY ALLOWING JUST ANYONE TO "PERMANENTLY" DELETE A LOVED ONES FACEBOOK PAGE. Just because he was married to a heartless person for 3 years, does not mean that his family of 33 years could ever be that heartless or can ever understand why his Facebook page is not there for us to comment on during the holidays and his birthday. I believe she deleted his page just out of pure animosity to torture my family and I. FACEBOOK NEEDS TO CHANGE THEIR POLICIES. I have started this petition and a Facebook page for change please sign my petition and like & share my Facebook page to support my cause. https://www.facebook.com/My-Late-Loved-Ones-Face-Book-Page-Was-Deleted-1707643826136803/?ref=hl Thank you
