An Instagram account called stuckinphandom posted that she would kill herself at 8pm London time, hundreds of people put in efforts to find her and keep her alive. Many of us contacted Instagram and the suicide prevention hotline to no avail. There was no way to help her and because of that her life was lost.
More and more stories like the one above are happening and unless something is done noting will change.
Instagrams report feature takes over 24 hours to contact someone with self harm intentions. They have nothing for suicide even though it's is the 3rd most common reason for death.
We are asking Instagram to make fast acting protocols for those about to attempt suicide. Protocols that would give local police information that would be helpful in finding the person and saving them. Information like a name, number, or email can be the difference between life and death. This can save hundreds to thousands of lives.
