This is for Alyssa and all other children who are struggling with being put into a general education setting when being diagnosed with ASD. We have recently moved to Alachua County Florida and have found that there are no ASD classes here! We have found also found a lack of assistance for children who have a diagnosed disability. Our daughter does have an IEP but the supports she had in her prior county are sorely lacking with little to No help at all! Her typical IEP would take well over an hour where to here they seem to rush through the meeting and it lasts no longer than 30 minutes this I believe is unacceptable our daughter went from a child who loved going to school to now despising it. In her prior County she made leaps and bounds with the supports we had in place , where here in Alachua County she regressed and now feels she has no abilities.  We as her parents need to do something about this and change it. The supports that work need to be back in place and smaller classrooms are needed for these students to be able to succeed as the President stated the other night No Child should have to go to a school that is not making the grade ! This to me meant that the school she attends now is not making the grade by choosing not to provide the proper tools or assistance she and others like her need. As special needs parents we need to fight until the proper services are in place for these children to flourish and be productive citizens in there communities.  We all need to come together and get these children the proper services they need whatever those services are . Please join us in this uphill battle to give these children the services they deserve to be successful!!!
