Kayleigh Cooper started this petition to UK Parliament

I'm asking for Facebook/Instagram to label images that have been drastically altered and are to be published on social media to have a clear warning that they have been altered - much like how warnings about Covid-19 have been placed on images.

Social media is rife with altered images of bodies and faces. As an image editor myself, I have the knowledge, skill and resources to alter my images, and will admit to doing so in the past. I now know how damaging that is, not only to myself but to others who see my images. Norway’s Ministry of Children and Family Affairs has now made it illegal for influencers and advertisers to share retouched photos on social media, now we should follow in their footsteps and also go one step further, for the mental health of all who use social media.

The goal isn't to criminalise anyone. What we deserve to see is transparency. Individuals should not be able to post altered images of themselves without declaring that what their followers are seeing is a fantasy, a fake version of that person's self.

A banner, or a label of some sort that states that the image/s have been altered would be enough for people to determine how they feel about the image, and hopefully by practising good social media health, if they see someone constantly posting 'altered' images, they unfollow.
