Why isn't England Producing World Class Coaches Anymore?
A simple question but with a very simple answer, the cost. When compared with the pricing structures from across the globe it is clear just why England struggle to produce the quantity and quality of coaches emerging. It can cost upwards of ten thousand pounds to complete all of the available coaching badges in England and when wishing to study these simply out of the love of the game its nigh near impossible to muster the cash. The situation only gets worse for teenagers and young adults wishing to enter the realm of the beautiful game as when attempting to gather funds a part time job whilst simultaneously at college/university will not cut the mustard. The FA will claim that the higher cost is due to the superior quality and expertise they provide as well as to cover costs and provide income which can re-enter through grassroots football; and of course, the FA will claim this is the only way to go about things.
In other European countries such as Spain, Italy and Germany the number of young, domestic managers in the top flight should bring a certain level of shame on the English Game.In the top flight of these respective countries they have much larger numbers of domestic manager than England with Italy having 19/20 managers being Italian, Germany having 13/18 being German and Spain have 15/20 being Spanish all compared to just 4 English men in the Premier League. This is absolutely abysmal, the world cup recently brought about chants of 'Footballs Coming Home' perhaps its about time the FA do some serious business and allow people of all ages to experience the game they love at a low cost which could perhaps lead to 'Football coming home' as om sure i don't have to mention the last three winners of the world cup (at the time of writing) where, of course, Italy, Spain and Germany.
(to complete a UEFA A course in England in usually over the £3000 mark a whole £2300 more than Germany at only £700.)
Why is it that English football must be firmly rooted in the dark ages whilst a myriad of European countries is reaping the vast rewards of their personal footballing renaissance. It's about time we push the FA into a new generation and if that means we have to throw the kitchen sink at it then so be it.
Please, sign this petition to help increase the number of young, domestic managers emerging throughout the English Game and improve the total quality of coaching produced by a country who proudly boasts to have invented the sport.
