Hi everyone, TransLink has released a new survey to gather input from stakeholders as part of the "environmental and socio-economic review process" for the Surrey-Newton-Guildford Light Rail project. This is an incredible opportunity to not only voice your opposition, but outline the specific issues as to why this project is impractical for our city and a mistake for our region. A short survey guide and the link to survey are posted on our website at: http://skytrainforsurrey.org/nov17survey We encourage everyone to take your time and provide as much input as you can on issue areas for the Surrey LRT project. Remember that if you have *any* opinions on the LRT, that suggests you have a socio-economic concern about it. It is IMPORTANT that we come together to share these concerns. This survey will be available until NOVEMBER 6. Please fill it by then! In other news, earlier this week our petition signature count surpassed a new milestone with over 3,000 people signed; our campaign also received mentions in several media articles such as Daily Hive, the Vancouver Courier, and Business in Vancouver on this issue. We have also spotted your newsletters in several newspapers including The Province, the Surrey Now-Leader, and others. All of this is indicative of the strong interest in the issue being moved by this campaign, not just in the local community but throughout the entire region. Keep up the great work, everyone! We are getting ready for the next round of public outreach to demonstrate our opposition when the Regional Mayors' Council discusses the proposal to fund Phase 2, which includes the first LRT project, and must not be allowed to proceed. We anticipate that this decision will occur early in the next year. To assist our outreach efforts, we are looking for volunteers to join us at this open house as well as in future events. Volunteers are important help to bring awareness about this issue by doing things such as talking to the public at events, distributing flyers and other materials, and taking part in other public outreach efforts which may include rallies and speaking at board and Council Meetings. Get in touch with us by filling in the form at http://skytrainforsurrey.org/volunteer/. Thanks for joining us, and see you again soon!
