Costa Mesa: Extend Bark Park Hours

0 have signed. Let’s get to 100!

Costa Mesa residents and visitors to Bark Park wish to extend it’s operating hours daily to 10pm. Furthermore, we wish to change the maintenance day to either Tuesday or Thursday.

Currently, Bark Park offers Costa Mesa residents the benefit of visiting at night with park lighting and operating hours until 9pm. However, some residents are unable to arrive prior to 9pm due to late work schedules and personal conflicts. Residents wish to further take advantage of the lighting and facilities offered at Bark Park by extending it’s operating hours until 10pm.

This one additional hour is still within the city’s curfew and prevents some residents from having to visit alternate facilities such as Irvine’s Central Bark to take advantage of it’s extra hour of availability. As the only nearby dog park that also offers park lighting, Irvine’s Central Bark sets a favorable precedent with a 10pm close time.

Furthermore, the residents of Costa Mesa understand the necessity of a maintenance day for Bark Park. The hard work and services provided by the City of Costa Mesa on Wednesdays are greatly appreciated. However, to meet the physical needs of their canine friends, residents often must seek out other dog parks outside the city on Wednesday to visit. As previously mentioned, Irvine’s Central Bark is the nearest comparable facility that some residents must defer to. However, both Central Bark and Bark Park are closed on the same day of the week. The residents of Costa Mesa propose that Bark Park reschedule maintenance days to another day of the week, possibly Tuesday. By doing so, residents who own dogs that require daily activity may still visit a nearby open park on maintenance days.
