Domestic violence survivors know that financial abuse is the most common tool used to control and coherce victims. Domestic servitude, labor trafficking and financial abuse have long lasting effects in the lives of survivors and impair survivors ability to "just move on."

Creditors and collections agents are sometimes the only contacts that isolated victims speak to when in an abusive home. The federal government needs to mandate that these agents assume responsibility for witnessing suspected abuse and report it, instead of further profiting off of an already exploited person without agency over their personal finances due to domestic violence, trafficking, or forced servitude.
