In 2018, Jonathan Sriranganathan created a single question survey to ask the local community, 'Should we expand the dog off-leash area in Woolloongabba Rotary Park'. The general consensus was a solid YES!

Unfortunately nothing ever eventuated.

Jono's thoughts, at the time were: "A larger dog park will encourage some nearby residents who don't currently own a dog to buy one, and will also cause a slight but not insignificant increase in the number of new dog owners moving into the area"

In the 4 years since this issue was raised, we have seen a huge influx of dogs using the park, mostly smaller breed which is largely due to the construction of 15-18 story tower blocks a stones throw away.

In light of the distressing incident which took place on the evening of Friday 5th August, resulting in the death of a small dog, it is time to revisit this discussion and create a safe space for smaller dogs and their owners.
