Exorbitant Prices & Unhealthy Junk Food in Mutliplexes

Cinema Halls in India do not allow food from outside/home. At the same time they provide unhealthy food at the unfair prices.

My niece fell ill after consuming the burger at one of the premier PVRs recently. She developed Gastro and Food Poisoning which took her almost 2 weeks to recover from.

we cannot have food of our own choice inside the Cinema premises. We are forced to eat the unhealthy junk food Cinemas sell at the exorbitant price. Such a practice by Cinema Halls demeans our Consumer Rights while simultaneously jeopardizing our health. It violates our right of access to healthy food.

There are 2 points to be resolved:

1. Unhealthy Junk Food, 2. Exorbitant prices

Point no. 1 is more painful and runs the severe risk of damaging our health. Across the duration of 3 hours, one has to have something to douse the hunger pangs. A healthy or homely meal will promote good health and reduce burden on state expenditure.

In this case, while we are already paying for the Movie, why should we not be allowed to bring food from our home or they must provide choices from healthy Indian snacks at the competitive rates.

We want all the State Governments in India to take up this issue and allow the audience the food of their choice.
