Stop drilling on Yamal peninsula

Stop drilling on Yamal peninsula
The Issue
Dear Readers, The Yamal Peninsula is located in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug of northwest Siberia, Russia. It extends roughly 700 km (435 mi) and is bordered principally by the Kara Sea, Baydaratskaya Bay on the west, and by the Gulf of Ob on the east. At the northern end of this peninsula lie the Malygina Strait and, beyond it, Bely Island. In the language of its indigenous inhabitants, the Nenets, "Yamal" means "End of the Land". This peninsula is home to many wonderful species of birds and wildlife. The wildlife on this peninsula will die off if something is not done to protect them, Exxon Mobil and Shell and various other big oil corporations are exploiting the natural oil reserves on the peninsula and it is harming the wildlife there. This exploitation is harming the Nenets people and destroying their culture and environment. Because of large profit, gas companies are refusing to leave the Nenet land, affecting century-old migration routes and reindeer - Nenets main source of wealth. Currently, we are at a peak oil time period, and in order to create more profit, companies build more infrastructure (Beta, 2017). These building cites are built on the Nenet land and their ancient migration routes, which also causes the snow to melt, making it harder for the reindeers to walk.
An increase of infrastructure has affected the reindeer's health. If you are seeing this please sign this petition so this invasive fracking will be put to a stop. Here's a link to my spotfund campaign http://spot.fund/SaveYamalpeninsula
