Bring our friend home! Please help us to stop them laying her to rest in a strange place

Our dear friend sadly passed away unexpectedly Christmas Eve 2017. Our friend has been left lying cold in Plymouth waiting to be laid to rest whilst arrangements for the funeral have been attempted. Unfortunately our friend had become estranged from immediate next of kin and why I am not using names out of respect to the family. Due to this our dear friend will be laid to rest in a strange place that they have no connection to. The current system means our friend will be laid to rest where she was taken by emergency services, rather than where she had lived for many years. Exeter City Council Bereavement Services are refusing to facilitate the funeral, sadly all coming down to costs. Our friend may not be a biological relation, but has been a part of our family and has many friends they have know for over 30 years. Just because no biological relation wants to pay their respects, there are many that do. This has highlighted a issue for me that I didn't know existed in our society. A person should not be laid to rest in a place they have no connection to and should be allowed to rest in peace where they called home. Where those that loved and cared for them can pay there respects and say goodbye. Please help us change this for our friend and others.
