David Brooks started this petition to Everyone in the United States of America

The past couple decades have been terrible when it comes to leadership in the greatest country in the world the United States of America. There are many reasons for this, but I would like to propose changing two things to our process of electing people. The first is prior to be elected and the second is after they are elected. Our leadership needs changed.

It has been very evident that individuals involved in US politics have lost a true concept of what the American citizens daily life is. Most people live paycheck to paycheck if they are lucky. I would like you to sign this petition if you agree with setting a net worth limit for people running for office. Currently we have over half of our US politicians with a net worth well over a million dollars. There are a couple senators above $250 million. I believe a cap of one million dollars would be sufficient because they might have some concept of daily living depending where they are from.

The second change I would like to see is the Salary and Benefits adjusted. The people in congress and the house work for the people. Yet they make more than most people and have excellent benefits. They should get paid the average American citizen salary $34,500 annually with benefits that are comparable to the average citizen, maybe a few weeks paid time off, insurance with $3000 deductibles, and no private security. I think it’s time we have true representation in the government.
