Why this petition matters

Started by John Loaring

At a time when doctors and nurses have worked long hours in perilous situations to save lives and protect patients, for which they were given a miserly 1% pay rise. At a time when most of the population are struggling to cope with the rising cost of living brought about by increased NI contributions, tax rises, Brexit, increased energy costs and reductions in benefits. It is entirely inappropriate that Members of Parliament should be given any pay rise at all, leave alone the £2,200 proposed.

We therefore demand that the proposed salary increase is cancelled, that MPs salaries should be frozen until after the next general election, and that MP's expenses should be capped at a reasonable level deemed acceptable to the voting public.
