In the beginning of January 2020 a bill was passed to abolish the Tampon Tax until December 31, 2021. Even with the Tampon Tax being abolished at the moment, it is still a struggle for women who are in the lower class or middle class, as they are still unable to afford hygiene products. The women usually have to choose between important necessities such as food, clothes, water, bills, or their hygiene. The cost for tampons is $5.99 and the cost for pads is $3.50 or $6.99 every month. 
    The total amount women spend on tampons and pads in a year is $50. Throughout the lifespan of the reproductive system the total amount spent on women hygiene products is $6,303. For some people it may not seem like a lot but for others it is. About 21% of women say that they can’t afford women hygiene products having to choose between food or other types of women hygiene products.
