Unfortunately, the amount of individuals without access to health care has continued to rise over the past decade. Recently, Governor Brewer proposed a plan to restore Medicaid coverage to its original pre-approved status as well as expand coverage to more than 63,000 low-income Arizonans. Her plan demonstrates true leadership in the fight against heart disease and stroke which are the #1 and #4 killers of Americans, respectively. The Governor’s plan has the potential to eliminate barriers for the proper diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of chronic diseases like heart disease and stroke.
