Cancelling student loan interest is the fairest way to start to solve the student debt crisis in our country.

We should refund prior paid interest and cancel all interest on student loans henceforth.  We all intended to and plan to pay the loans we have borrowed.  The current system however is built to keep hardworking American citizens in debt prisons.

The last year has shown how effective and powerful a tool interest cancellation can be in this struggle.  Some of us have finally managed to finally pay off our loans, significantly reduce the amount owed or have been afforded the breathing room to finance other necessities that have been a burden or an impossibility to us for too long.  People are talking about finally being able to spare co-pay for medical care, getting their cars fixed and even establishing meager emergency funds.  Furthermore the money that has been redirected towards purchases and other expenses has absolutely been a lifeline to the US economy.  

All of these positive outcomes can be realized tenfold if the government chooses to refund and permanently cancel interest on student loans.
