Why this petition matters

Started by Palette - Embrace your traits, Stop Colorism

Classifying people by color has created and exacerbated racism. We don't want human beings to be referred to by color. Colorism is a violation of the basic human rights, it is disrespectful and insulting.

Colorism affects all people of all race. Regardless of who you are and where you came from. This petition aims to gather people together and create a change one step at a time by signing your name.

Human Colourism has to end and our universal human rights to be human and treated as such restored. We owe it to ourselves and future generations.

We must first understand, accept, & educate ourselves that colorism is a form of racism.

By signing this petition, you are committing to:

• Educate as many people as possible about the detrimental effects of colorism. Don't use degrading terms to refer to people of color such as "Blackie", "Burnt", "Midnight", "Shadow", "Charcoal", "Mud", "Gorilla" and etc. even in a joking manner.

• Help fight colorism by not using "light skin" as a compliment or dark skin as an insult.

• Skin tone does not define beauty, Educate people on how they can help fight colorism. Try your best to uplift people of color all around you and encourage them to love the skin they are in.

Referring to other human beings by color is simply wrong and unacceptable. By using the color, one race, the human race was divided into color races misleading the whole world into believing blindly that there are different human races.

The campaign has been challenging people to see “Beauty Beyond Color.” Now, with this change.org petition, we are speaking up for everyone to end colorism mentality.

Together, let us raise our voices to reflect a nation that celebrates every shade of beautiful and handsome!
