We, the people, of Colorado Springs, CO, have had enough with private ambulance companies.  

CSFD has shown great interest in taking over the 911 system within Colorado Springs.  This would eliminate several problems that the public currently endures such as: long wait times for an ambulance - without having to run inter facility transfers, an ambulance would be able to decon and return to service much quicker - plus with the possibility of having 22 ambulances for the entire city instead of 8, your medical emergency would be their top priority, different treatment by different companies - this would create a more unified approach in medicine and a better experience for the patient (you!), an increase in wages for both EMTs and Paramedics, and the potential for lower ambulance bills when your loved one has a medical emergency. 

The new ambulances run by CSFD would still staff the medical experts, but by being on the same team, can deliver a more community based medicine approach.
