Why this petition matters

Have you ever heard others say, or thought to yourself, “Wow, my electric bill is through the roof! Every month seems to get higher and higher, and I’m sick of it.”? You’re not alone, so many of us in New England are being affected by Eversource Energy and their continued price gouges, as well as disappointment of their quality in work and care.

These past couple of years, the world has been flipped upside down because of the Covid-19 Pandemic. For many of us, our lives have been drastically changed for the worse. We have lost loved ones, jobs, investments, and trust in major corporations. In 2020, during the midst of the pandemic, New England suffered severe damage from Tropical Storm Isaias. Eversource failed in preparation of the state, causing thousands to be without power for weeks. They got off on a settlement of $103.4 million which was a payback of about $35 per customer. Thirty five dollars is all we are worth in the eyes of this company.

Fast forward to 2022, we can see that nothing has changed for the better. Eversource announced that it would be INCREASING its rates towards its customers. These past two months have been the highest I’ve ever paid and it is only going to get worse. In one months time, my bill jumped up $56! I shop around for the cheapest rates of suppliers to try and minimize the heavy costs associated with keeping my family warm and safe. This months bill was less usage than last months, but I owe $56 more for less delivery of electricity? It is unfair that this company can continue to monopolize the state and put even more strain on the people of this region. I am asking for you to sign and share this petition to garner enough attention to actually make some real change for our communities. We have been knocked down time and time again these last couple years, it’s about time we start knocking back!
