Madilyn Parker started this petition to Everett Public School System and

COVID-19 is spreading fast and is getting closer. People keep getting sick and our school (Cedar Wood Elementary School) is not sanitized or cleaned very well in my opinion. Some of my friends can back me up on the idea of closing schools in the Everett Public School District to clean the schools. If we actually shut down the schools in our district for a couple of days to a couple of weeks, we could make sure the schools are actually being cleaned and keeping us as safe as possible. It would help stop the spread of COVID-19 germs. Please help make this idea possible. It will help me and my friends feel more safe going to school and public areas in our district. Heatherwood is very close to Jackson and when there was a case of the coronavirus at Jackson, nobody said anything about the possibility that it could have been spread there. The kid with COVID-19 at Jackson had a brother that went to Gateway and he continued going to school like nothing could have happened to him. People that are sick need to stay home like health officials have been telling them. Adults that have different jobs and work at different companies, are working from home due to the spread of COVID-19. Why should it be different for kids? Children who have not had their bodies fully develop have weaker lungs than those whom bodies have developed. If they are feeling sick, coughing, having short breaths, have a fever, or mucus that is not normal, these are all symptoms of COVID-19. I personally don't think people are being sanitary enough or cleaning enough or even just washing there hands right. These are all reasons that COVID-19 is spreading. Listen to health officials. Stay home if you have any of the symptoms and ask for a doctor or other health official, who has factual information on COVID-19 for their opinion. People need to be more careful. This is how we start!
