Immediate Ceasefire in Panjshir

Immediate Ceasefire in Panjshir
What is happening in Afghanistan right now is a humanitarian crisis with far reaching potential consequences for the rest of the world. The international community must take immediate preventative steps to avoid more bloodshed, human misery and displacement of communities.
The newly started war in Panjshir province can escalate to unmanageable and unimaginable outcomes, not only for Afghanistan but for the entire world. While Ahmad Masoud has asked for an immediate ceasefire and negotiations, armed attacks that are against all norms and principles of humanity are still taking place in Panjshir.
This is a mess the international community created in Afghanistan. The international community must now show leadership, accountability and responsibility to immediately:
a) Call for a ceasefire to stop further loss of life;
b) Call for more meaningful, durable and dignified negotiations and solutions to this crisis to avoid further escalation of conflict;
c) Support the formation of an all inclusive Afghan government.
This needs to be done urgently (not after your coffee break, not after the weekend, not after any other agenda but right now). We demand that European and UK parliamentarians take immediate action and increase political pressure on whoever is pulling the strings of this war and cause them to stop it.
As the Afghan people, we have no hope from the US government but I do feel that European states can still play a major role to shape the future of a prosperous Afghanistan. Now that the international community and armed forces fled Afghanistan, the country and its people are facing an uncertain future. We all need to play our part to bring peace, stability and dignity to the people of Afghanistan, who have suffered decades of war.
I call on everyone concerned for Afghanistan and particularly my fellow members of the Afghan diaspora across the globe, please sign this petition and protest with one voice, to stop the violence. This war is unjust and unnecessary; and it never is or was in our name.
