EDUCATION FOR THE ENVIRONMENT AND ECO-CITIZENSHIP OF OUR YOUTH

The environmental dangers that our societies will face increasingly strongly encourage us to take control of our future, particularly in terms of education for sustainable development and eco-citizenship.
All countries must absolutely educate their people and the entire younger generation to preserve the environment in daily life and to acquire behavior that will make it possible to consume less and reduce personal waste.

To do this, countries must impose from primary school to university a specific school curriculum on environmental issues and on the behavior of the future eco- citizen. The younger generation currently has no vision of WHAT MUST BE DONE to avoid living on a planet that could soon become a deadly future in health, economic and social terms.

Educating what to do on a daily basis (using,re-using and recycling) in programs for parents in the communities and students in their schools.Creating school activities that show how to preserve the environment in daily life (classroom, school, street, friends, home, etc.). To complete the courses still too casual on the environmental outcome, schools must join forces to create ecological solidarity among our young people (creation of vegetable gardens, participation in sustainable development events, etc.).

Eco-citizenship education must be an integral part of school curriculum, which would radically change the selfish and consumerist behavior of today’s young learners.

The group “Erasmus+ Students’ Climate Report” France calls on the European Parliament to impose in all educative institutions of the European Community a true school curriculum on global environmental problems in order to develop knowledge on climate hazards and their consequences for peoples, on sustainable development and the economic benefits generated, on eco-citizenship and daily actions to preserve the health of the population and the future of our youth.

Educating the young generation means saving the future of the planet and of humanity.
