I am writing a lot about the Kurds and Kurdistan on Facebook. Some of you are reading it, some of you don’t. ‘Oh it’s Lida again with her Kurds. Well, yes it’s understandable, she is married with a Kurd’.
I have to tell you, I am about to be so disappointed in the western society. The western society, and that means you too, has so much power to change things in this world. Think about little Alan, the little Syrian Kurdish boy who drowned in the sea on his way to Europe...
The last days I have been sharing updates about Kurds who are in indefinite hunger strikes, there about 160 of them, the first one, Leyla Guven, has come in a critical condition and is about to die.
They don’t do that for fun but they are hunger striking to get the attention of the world because the have human rights too.
Abdullah Öcalan is since 2016 isolated in Imrali Island Prison. He is not allowed any contact, not even family or lawyers. This is against the universal declaration of Human Rights.
One reason the isolation can be implemented so strictly is without a doubt the international silence and apathy.
I am convinced that we, the people, can do something, rise your voice, share it on social media that you want Abdullah Öcalan to be visited by family and lawyers. We can make it a subject the politicians in Europe can not ignore. We can’t stop wars, be we can do this.
I hope to read something about human rights for Abdullah Öcalan on your timeline. Thanks for you attention. Friendly greetings, Lida
