Cancel contract with Logo as American Eurovision broadcaster

Until 2016, Americans could watch the Eurovision Song Contest via online lifestream, but without commentary. This year, Americans could only watch the final on Logo's lifestream, which included commentary by American celebrities who had no idea what was happening, had no appreciation for the history of Eurovision, and who did not have any preparation beforehand. Their commentary was not family-friendly, and was thoroughly distracting. This year's broadcast made Eurovision feel distant and disappointing, and we want to avoid that in future.

We would like the EBU and/or the Eurovision Song Contest Reference Group to absolve whatever contract is in place designating Logo TV as the American broadcaster of the Eurovision Song Contest. As it is, the deal does not allow for any alternative American viewing options. It permits geo-blocking and restricting access to further Eurovision content (this year it was Justin Timberlake's half-time performance), while leaving us with only uninformed and unnecessary Logo TV commentary. Live streaming on Eurovision.tv and Youtube.com have also been disabled for this reason.

Part of what makes the Eurovision Song Contest fun and exciting is that it is something the US is not involved in. We want Eurovision to stay European, and would prefer to watch Eurovision either via non-commentary lifestream like before (online or on public television), or through a European broadcast - such as the BBC's Graham Norton commentary.

American broadcasters should have no stake in the competition. We do not want to have future access to live streaming become restricted based on television subscription requirements, as many Americans do not have cable. Giving a cable network broadcasting rights should not allow for future restrictions of this nature.

We do not want licensing issues to contribute to our inability to watch the ESC.

Thank you
