EU: Say No to U.N.'s Anti-Israel Bigotry

The U.N. is adopting 20 resolutions this year against Israel—and a total of 6 on the rest of the world combined. The bigotry and hypocrisy of singling out the Jewish state for grossly discriminatory treatment must end now.

I deeply regret that in the U.N. debate on November 10th, Britain, France, and Germany all voted in favor of 8 Arab-sponsored, one-sided draft resolutions targeting Israel.

I urge you to take a principled stance: please VOTE NO in the final vote at the General Assembly in December.

As this UN Watch chart shows, the resolutions are irrational:

  1. Necessary context is deliberately excluded. Israel is condemned for the Middle East situation while the Palestinians, Arab states, Iran and Hezbollah evade all responsibility.
  2. One-sided resolutions are discriminatory. They fail to criticize Palestinian terrorist groups such as Hamas who kill innocent Israelis, and the resolution are equally silent about Palestinians killed or tortured by Hamas or the Palestinian Authority.
  3. Twenty resolutions are redundant and excessive. No other country—not Syria, Iran or North Korea—gets more than one resolution each. Only Israel is targeted by twenty resolutions, each of them one-sided. There will actually be two resolutions on the Golan itself. Such irrational excess is tolerated on no other issue. There is no rational purpose in endlessly repeating the same condemnations of Israel.

To give one example, it is astonishing that the UK, France, and Germany just voted to condemn Israel for "repressive measures" against Syrians in the Golan Heights.

"We cannot accept the perverse message sent out by a Syria Golan resolution that singles out Israel, as Assad continues to slaughter the Syrian people," said British Ambassador Julian Braithwaite before the Human Rights Council in March, after opposing a similar resolution.

I agree: your support for these resolutions sends out a perverse message.

Therefore, I urge you and other world leaders to change your votes, and help the the U.N. to put an end to its anti-Israeli discrimination and anti-peace practices, as the founding Charter and ideals of the United Nations require.
