Remembering Students and Teachers we've lost:
Since so many students and teachers have died, and will continue to die in school shootings across the United States, I propose the establishment of a Student and Teacher Memorial Day. We may take this time to reflect on the incalculable losses suffered by communities across our nation, and contemplate our place in a society that prioritizes the rights of the gun lobby over the lives of children.

Setting aside a special time:
In light of the events in Uvalde, TX, I further propose that Student and Teacher Memorial Day replace, or at least coincide with, Peace Officers Memorial Day. It is only fair that we recognize the sacrifices of our youth and educators as much as we recognize those of the 'thin blue line', however meaningless it has become.
