Support the Designation of P.S. 103 as the Justice Thurgood Marshall National Historic Site

We, the undersigned, strongly urge Congress to pass legislation designating P.S. 103 Henry Highland Garnet School in Baltimore, Maryland, as the Justice Thurgood Marshall National Historic Site.

This designation will:

• Honor the Legacy of Justice Thurgood Marshall, a towering figure in American history and the first African American Supreme Court Justice, who laid the foundation for the Civil Rights Movement and championed equality and justice for all.

• Preserve an Essential Piece of History, ensuring the stories of Marshall’s formative years and his monumental contributions to civil rights and the law are accessible to future generations.

• Benefit Baltimore City, creating a national landmark that will inspire civic pride, provide educational opportunities, and contribute to community revitalization and tourism.

P.S. 103, where Justice Marshall attended elementary school, is a symbol of resilience and excellence. Recognizing this site as a National Historic Site will safeguard its history and provide resources for its preservation and administration as an affiliated area of the National Park System.
