Establish a Headspace Centre in the City of Kingston

Within Mission Australia's Annual Youth Survey of 15 to 19 year olds, it was found that 21% of respondents were concerned about mental health. Concerns about mental health have doubled since 2011 according to Mission Australia and a 2013-4 national survey conducted by UWA in partnership with Roy Morgan Research uncovered that one in seven (13.9%) 4-17 year-olds were assessed as having mental disorders in the previous 12-months.
Headspace is the National Youth Mental Health Foundation with facilities currently located in Bentleigh and Frankston, but at present nothing to directly service the Mordialloc-Chelsea population within the City of Kingston.
Headspace is concentrated on mental health, physical health, work and study support, alcohol and other drug services. The youth service offers early intervention into mental health related issues and assistance in promoting young peoples’ wellbeing at no cost or for a low fee.
Many of us have experienced mental health issues. Some of us live with these issues day to day. Above all many of us need an outlet and that is why establishing a Headspace Centre is of great value to the Mordialloc-Chelsea community.
Please sign the petition to draw attention to the need for the establishment of a Headspace Centre to service Mordialloc-Chelsea.
