Keeping children safe is the priority, and no child should be put in a vulnerable or at risk position before they even make it to the school gates.

Hodings Road in Harlow is directly outside Little Parndon Primary school, which stretches 1.1 miles has not a single zebra crossing for children to cross safely. There are numerous crossing gaps and spaces but are located at blind spots and often have cars parked on them which makes it impossible for adults, let alone children to cross safely.

Each day over 400 children attend Little Parndon school in Harlow and Kidz ok nursery which leads out on to the main road which many of these children would cross, but to do so the children are having to run across the road in hope to get across safely. There is not an option to walk further up the street to find a place of saftey as there is nothing. Many of these children would be year 5 and 6 pupils who are trying to prepare themselves for the independence of secondary school, but are restricted of this freedom due to the risks that the road presents.

This road is also the main road that leads to the only local shops, as well as pub which causes a lot of traffic. Often speed is not kept to 20mph on this road and there is a sharp turning which makes it impossible to see if a car is coming around the corner. The road is often so full of parked vehicles that being able to see what is coming from around the corner is impossible making the only option to step out and look, but it only has to be that one footstep that could be fatal.

As a concerned parent I would just like the comfort of knowing my children have got to school saftely and not have the panic of rushing across a road, squeezed between parked cars in a hope a car doesn't turn that corner before they notice.
