The elimination of school uniforms in Escambia County Alabama

Uniforms are not cost effective nor do they prevent the singling out of students for the brand of clothing they wear. Uniforms make children of larger sizes more uncomfortable & self conscious about their appearance. Uniforms are more difficult to locate & purchase in our area given the number of students compared to the number of stores. They aren't effective to identify intruders when faculty & substitutes aren't wearing the same clothing as the students. Uniforms take away the students individuality. The uniforms look sloppy, the students have no pride in their appearance. Why should they when they all look the same? Faculty and administration being so attentive to the dress code, takes away from teaching/learning hours, you know, the reason they're at school to begin with.
A dress code allowing regular clothing could & should be implemented. Normal clothing worn in the proper manner would be easier and more cost effective for parents as well as more comfortable for the students to wear.
Having a dress code rather that requiring uniforms will save parents money, they won't have to purchase normal clothing for everyday wear as well as uniforms for school.
