Dear fellow Burtonians, please sign this petition if you live in the Burton area and think we should have a referendum for each of the Town Proposals. An election style of referendum similar to the one held for Brexit. We should not be given a consultation with very narrow parameters for any personal comments. Please DEMAND a REFERENDUM by signing this petition.

A REFERENDUM would allow true DEMOCRACY.

Some very expensive changes are being proposed in our Market Town. The Burton Town Fund is a great opportunity but are the projects the best use of this money for our Market Town? The Town Deal Board was not elected. It was appointed. This is not democratic. The People of Burton DEMAND DEMOCRACY. 

This is not the way other important issues of this magnitude are decided. We the People of Burton signing this petition DEMAND a referendum for each of the proposed projects.

Do we really need to lose our Market Hall forever and reduce the size of our Library. How is losing our Market Hall forever and reducing the size of our Library an improvement?

Is a Footbridge necessary? Very few people benefit. Is it an improvement or a white elephant?

The plans for the Library site, once the Library is demolished, seem to be a secret.  

I could go on but this petition is simply to DEMAND DEMOCRACY.
