For many students in the Jackson Public Schools district, we have enough problems as is with school. We face poverty, family issues, academic pressure, jobs, etc. In this pandemic, many students have been faced with different issues whether it is pertaining to their mental, emotional, and/or physical health. This virtual learning has affected all sides of the spectrum when it comes to students, teachers, and educators. Students have expressed their concern and are not being properly listened to. There has been no further action taken to assess these issues as now.

The main reasons we should shorten the time for school are that our eyes can be affected and we can develop scoliosis. Some teachers are not even teaching. A lot of students have other priorities that they have to take care of. We basically are teaching ourselves at this point. The amount of time in class is hindering us rather than helping us. Teachers are telling students to keep their lights turned on but this can affect families economically. Some students don't even have wifi. Before virtual learning, we had two separate lives: school and home. The two worlds have been now combined and educators did not think about this before making the final decision for virtual school.

The way school is set up is not even preparing us for college. For college, they don't even go to class as often let alone stand and teach for extended amounts of time. The work load we receive is overwhelming.  Having an actual classroom experience is not necessary for a virtual learning experience.  We are taking things a step further since we are not getting viable responses from higher level administration in the district.
