Close schools on 2/14/22 in honor of Bengals going to Super Bowl
Why this petition matters
This has been an AMAZING season for the Cincinnati Bengals. For the first time in over 30 years, the team has made it to the SuperBowl! For some, this is a once in a lifetime opportunity to watch our home team battle it out for the title. Such an amazing accomplishment deserves a celebration.
Unfortunately for teachers, like myself, the celebration is on a school night. How could we possibly cheer on the Bengals and get a good nights rest before school the next day?
Like Louisville, KY during the Kentucky Derby, cities across the nation have made a thoughtful decision to close schools and even businesses to allow citizens to participate in their local celebrations. The idea is nothing new. Cincinnati Public Schools as well as a few other schools in Ohio have already called off school on February 14th to allow students and families alike to support their home team.
But what about the Kentucky side? Although we’re a different state, we’re right across the water from the AFC champions; they are our home team too! I think it’s only right that we can all take the day off to support OUR Bengals.
This petition requests that Erlanger/Elsmere School District close school or declare a NTI day on Monday February 14th, 2022 in observance of the Cincinnati Bengals playing in the Super Bowl LVI.
