As the Sonoma County fires were still burning, the owner of the Little Woods Mobile Villa in Petaluma, Ca. was petitioning to raise rents by over 45% on working class, predominantly immigrant tenants. This is part of a post-fire trend amongst Sonoma County landlords, with several of them being actively prosecuted for rent gouging. The District Attorney's office has stated they are requesting more information on this case, but we still have no clear answers.
Mobile home parks in Sonoma County have rent control, and in order for a landlord to raise rents, a public process must be undergone, with tenants being able to have their voices heard. Lets make sure that happens.
Tenants have reported unsanitary conditions, an overwhelming trash situation, unregulated parking, broken washing machines and dryers, rats, possums, an unusable pool, and an unresponsive manager and landlord.
Please sign to say you support the tenants in challenging these rent increases!
