In America, arts and music education have always been at the bottom of the totem pole of the vast education system. In recent years, these types of programs have been the subject of many federal budget cuts. The Missouri Alliance for Arts Education has found that "Student participation in arts education shows a significant and positive correlation with high school graduation rates. Missouri school districts with higher levels of student participation in the arts showed higher graduation rates than districts with lower levels of arts education." By cutting these types of art and music programs, we are diminishing the percentages of graduation as well as higher education attendance.

The National Endowment for the Arts also found that students who were engaged in rigorous arts programs had higher GPAs than their classmates who were not. Education starts with creativity and curiosity. Where are our students to express their individuality without music and the arts? Every step of the way, Missouri and national leaders and politicians will be updated on the progress of our petition. Let them know that we need to bring back arts education for students. Let them hear our voices by supporting the growing and aspiring minds of America's youth.
