Los Angeles has a long and bad history of homelessness, and the pandemic contributed to that history, but not in a positive way. In 2020, over 66,000 people were counted homeless. That is about 12% more than 2019. Most of those people did not choose to be homeless, but this pandemic has closed down many establishments and left lots of people unemployed. The unemployment rate last year reached 20.6% but is now at 12%. There is nothing we could do about it because the dumb excuse we had as a president did not want to take this pandemic seriously, and now people are suffering. This pandemic has affected us emotionally, physically, and mentally. Not one person is going through this alone and it is not fair that people are getting evicted when living through a pandemic is already hard enough. Places have started opening back up but people are still getting evicted because finding a job is not easy to say the least. When you find the job, it is not even certain that you'll get an interview, let alone the job. So until this pandemic is over, let us not evict people.
