Given our current situation, many of us have been advised to stay at home to try and slow the spread of this virus. But with the number of cases in Los Angeles growing day to day, it will be quickly realized that self quarantine is not enough to combat this pandemic. In order to effectively flatten the growth and spread of this disease, effective testing must be implemented into major cities around the area. The numbers you see now are concerning yes but they are nowhere near where these numbers should be. We are merely looking at a small fraction of the people that have been affected

Lack of testing is concerning, by implementing drive-thru testing for those that are displaying symptoms, we will slowly be able to control the disease. More and more people will be able to know what to do when symptoms appear and will be saving the hospital staff tremendous amounts of time by allowing them to care for the ones that are critically ill. In these drive-thru testing sites, people will be tested via a mouth swab, thermometer, etc. and will be given information about what to do once they arrive home. 

The COVID-19 pandemic is a very dangerous situation to be in as currently there is no effective cure and by going outside and meeting people, you are potentially endangering the lives of those that cannot fight it off. We need to treat this pandemic like it’s the end of the world, and no I am not exaggerating. By preparing for the worst we will be able to effectively make use of the emergency funds and implement better testing methods and hopefully find effective treatment for those currently ailing from this disease. Just a few months ago, we all were laughing at the thought of this disease as it has not reached US soil yet, but this is no longer a joke. If you are displaying any sort of cold or flu symptoms, please do not continue with your daily schedule and keep yourself away from other people.
