Prevent misappropriation of funds for homelessness

This past March, nearly 70% of LA County residents approved funding for homelessness services by voting in favor of Measure H this spring.
When LA voters rallied behind Measure H and Proposition HHH, they recognized that the solutions to our historic crisis of homelessness lie in creating more housing and more supportive services, not in criminalizing the homeless.
With the passage of Measure H, voters believed they were generating new funds to be directed toward the services that help lift people out of homelessness – services such as outreach teams of case workers and health specialists; the development of bridge housing and rapid rehousing; and services such as job training, substance abuse counseling and mental health treatment for residents experiencing homelessness.
The solutions that Measure H proposed, and that the voters approved, did not include greater intervention by police. Moreover, the use of law enforcement in homeless outreach will be a deterrent to individuals who might otherwise seek services.
We ask that Measure H funding only go toward the services and programs voters intended for, and not to increased policing.
