Due to the outbreak of the Corona Virus, many school campuses have been forced to close, and students have switched to online learning. Although education is important, the online learning system is damaging. During a time of global pandemic the last thing anyone should have to worry about is typing an essay before midnight. Many students have not even had time to process the current global crisis. The combination of total isolation and online learning has deteriorated the mental health of so many students, which makes completing assignments and tasks on time extremely difficult. Not only is this physically damaging, but many students have little access to the internet, and the possibility of maintaining good grades without internet is incredibly slim. Since the transition, it has also become difficult for students to learn and retain information. Many students have resorted to cheating to pass their classes due to the fact that they simply can not teach themselves the criteria through a computer screen. The students are struggling immensely, and that’s truly disappointing.

I am asking that measures be taken to help keep the health and well being of students a top priority. In order to do so, it is absolutely necessary that schools take action during these difficult times. All students should earn the grade that is reflective of their effort and quality of work PRIOR to the epidemic. Grades should not be allowed to drop any lower than the grade they had in a class prior to the closure of school campuses. Instead, students that have the facilities to continue to do work should be offered extra credit for each assignment, meaning their grades can ONLY raise during the last  month or so of the school year.

In signing this petition, you are stating that the health and well being of our children is your utmost priority. Thank you for your time, and have a wonderful day!
