Monica Gonzalez started this petition to Mayor of Los Angeles Eric Garcetti and

Having a job now and days does not guarantee having a decent living. More than 700 million people, or 10% of the world population, still live in extreme poverty and is struggling to fulfill the most basic needs like food, education, access to water/ sanitation, jobs, housing, etc. Poverty has many dimensions, but its causes include unemployment, social exclusion, diseases and many more things that allows them not to be productive. Things such as ensuring social protection for all children and other vulnerable groups is critical to reduce poverty. Other things that are critical in the fight to end poverty around the world is quality education, access to health, economic security, and affordable housing. At the end of the day, poverty is harming the world and causing social tensions. The world is being divided due to the issue of inequalities, in particular income inequality. I strongly believe that the main reason for poverty is when wealth in countries is poorly distributed among its people. In other words, a tiny minority has all the money while the rest are out there struggling. It is time to take a stand and stop poverty or reduce poverty. We can take action by creating awareness, more jobs, donating, educating, giving more access with services to those in need, and by making everything more affordable.
