While we think bail reform was needed, the laws right now have over corrected the issue. The changes have allowed a serial burglar to terrorize Park Slope, NY for at least two months, hitting dozens of businesses. Despite multiple arrests, the “catch and release” laws put him right back out there. This is just one example, there are many more. We need to pressure our reps to do the right thing here and allow judicial discretion to remand repeat offenders into custody for misdemeanors.
