We the parents of ER 9 district students and citizens of Easton demand an audit to be done of our school’s libraries.  Those making the decisions on what is appropriate for our children have been allowed to go unchecked for too long. Now is the time for us to take back that responsibility so we as parents and interested citizens can protect our children.

     Many districts are being made to take a hard look at what is being allowed in the hands of our children.   One book specifically, “Gender Queer: A Memoir” has been removed from some districts because of its blatant pornographic depictions of various sexual acts and discussions. We do not know if this book is in our Easton, CT school libraries because any requests for that information have been denied. 

     Why is the ER 9 being so secretive about what our children are reading?  There is no reason that this cannot be public information.
