Kenya Development Response to Displacement Impacts Project (KDRDIP) World Bank has the objective of improving access to basic social services, expand economic opportunities, and enhance environmental management for communities hosting refugees in the target areas of Kenya.

Project components:

The components include;

Component 1: Social and Economic Infrastructure and Services, which has two subcomponents: 1(a) community investment funds; and 1(b) capacity support for local planning and decentralized service delivery. Component 2: Environmental and Natural Resource Management is divided into two: 2(a): integrated natural resources management; and 2(b): access to energy. This component seeks to support and enhance sustainable environmental and ecosystem services, including integrated natural resource management and small, micro and household-scale irrigation schemes. Alternative energy sources will aim to reduce unsustainable exploitation of natural resources, including risk mitigation and other challenges faced by crisis-affected host communities. Component 3: Livelihoods Program has two subcomponents: 3(a): support to traditional and non-traditional livelihoods; and 3(b): capacity building of community based organizations for livelihoods. The interventions will support and enhance sustainable environmental and ecosystem services, including integrated natural resource management and small, micro and household-scale irrigation schemes.

The project is beneficial to the target group(s). However World Bank has considered WARDA a brief case organization belonging to area legislator who is known to be biased in the Resource sharing from the Constituency kit with USD 1,000 annually.  Due process was not followed when selecting the said organization as there were more experienced and communal ownership local organizations that also applied. But because of the power given to him by virtue of being the area Legislative his organization was awarded wrongly.

This will have big impact on the target population as it creates inequality and make other communities apart from his sycophants to sink deeply into marginalization and economic sabotage. The beneficiaries will be at his discretion rather than universal. The project should be facilitated by other local or internal organizations that have vast experience or completely stop in order to avoid creating of more marginalized sub-groups.
